Shadow of a Shadow

by Loose Opinions

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Shadow of a Shadow was written with the vinyl format in mind, and each side of the album is an uninterrupted continuous piece of music, each song melting into the next one. It was designed to compel listeners to slow down, put a needle on the record, and sink into the moment. Side A features Part I: The Shadow of Doubt, which follows my journey into frustration and pessimism, and eventual spark of inspiration. Side B features Part II: Back to the Light, which recounts my growing optimism that the world is turning the corner towards a brighter day. Download card with full digital album included.

I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just an echo of an echo of a moment in time Early reflection of a section of another's design I'm just a footnote to a reference to a fictional account A loose opinion casting shadows on a shadow of doubt A chain reaction to an action of another's intent The present state, the opportunity the future presents Your potential's exponential, your whisper's a shout Pull back the veil beyond the shadow of the shadow of doubt I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow I'm just a shadow of a shadow

Twenty-twenty give me my money back Seems like gravity was never on my side Your crushing weight it starts to break my back and then I notice the sky Another plague that befalls us Or did I have it wrong all this time Your beauty swarms all around as it colors the sky Under Saharan sunset That's where I find the peace of mind I need Under Saharan sunset I forget all the things they told me Your golden light is all that I need Your golden rays they penetrate Your deep blue lakes reflects upon the sky A thousand miles from where I currently concentrate It captures my mind Under Saharan sunset That's where I find the peace of mind I need Under Saharan sunset, I forget all the things they told me Your golden light is all that I need Under Saharan sunset - Its all that I need Under Saharan sunset - Its all that I need Under Saharan sunset - Its all that I need

Go on Take what I can take, don't know how long that I can Hold on Feel the feeling come and feel the feeling go Hesitation leave me be I beg it please to set me free Another day it's just the same I'm staring through the same old frame Back off What's the point in showing just how bad I want it Takes off Didn't see it coming until the train was running On the dawn of victory The gravitation's pulling me Against the winds of apathy Across the plains to set me free On the plains of hesitation Lie bones of our frustrations A sigh of resignation Defines our devastation On the plains of hesitation Lie bones of our frustrations A sigh of resignation Defines our devastation On the plains of hesitation Lie bones of our frustrations A sigh of resignation Defines our devastation On the plains of hesitation Lie bones of our frustrations A sigh of resignation Defines our devastation On the plains of hesitation On the plains

I can't remember what I can't forget As my mind melts into your dark abyss My escaping soul particles emit Flat versions of our memories persist I'm staring straight into your black hole eyes They're swallowing up all space and time I can't look away from your black hole eyes They're bending my will and the fabric of time Your supermassive heart has pulled me away My orbit's lost in your gravitational waves They crash all around me my light can't escape Relativity fails us, no theory can save I'm staring straight into your black hole eyes They're swallowing up all space and time I can't look away from your black hole eyes They see through the things that my heart can't hide My hands tremble as I reach towards your light Your density absorbs my free will to fight Your event horizon enters my sight Galaxies collapse in your permanent night I'm staring straight into your black hole eyes I'm looking straight into your black hole eyes I'm looking straight into your black hole eyes I'm looking straight into your black hole eyes I'm looking straight into your black hole eyes

Searching but I'll never find I wonder why I waste my time Then I find There's never been a better Better time than never Hoping for some peace of mind Our present state is not inclined Then I find If I hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive Yesterday never arrives Arrive Yesterday never arrives Arrive Evidently lost in time Soon I'm gonna make it mine though It defines you The essence of a person is Wrapped up in diversions We're all racing for the prize Soon we're going to realize No surprises If we hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive Yesterday never arrives Arrive Yesterday never arrives Arrive Yesterday never arrives Yesterday never arrives If we hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive, arrive If we hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive, arrive If we hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive, arrive If we hold on to the present Yesterday will never arrive, arrive

Nothing's gonna help you sleep at night When you know you're right, the truth can be a blinding light All this time, reading between the lines Looking for a sign, waiting to lose your mind It's all a waste of time There's a world out there outside of your control And they'll stab you in the back to try to save your soul All this time, reading between the lines Looking for a sign, waiting to lose your mind It's all a waste of time I don't blame you 'cause you're paranoid The conspiracy is real But I won't sacrifice my peace of mind to you The conspiracy is real, but my hands are off the wheel They tell you its concern for your well being While talking just to talk, and talk is cheap All this time, reading between the lines Looking for a sign, waiting to lose your mind It's all a waste of time I don't blame you 'cause you're paranoid The conspiracy is real But I won't sacrifice my peace of mind to you The conspiracy is real, and my hands are off the wheel I don't blame you 'cause you're paranoid The conspiracy is real But I won't sacrifice my peace of mind to you The conspiracy is real, but my hands are off the wheel The conspiracy is real, but my hands are off the wheel The conspiracy is real, but my hands are off the wheel

Voice inside Says you haven't even tried To take your part in the dialog that's growing you and I Is there more That my consciousness desires? The conversation's not enough to fix this flawed design We call this progress We call this forward motion I call it wishful thinking (You call it like you see) Nothing wrong with wishful dreaming Dah dee dah dah dee Poisoned minds Will always feed us lies But the light of day will send them back to the corners where they hide Is there more (Is there more than I can find) That my consciousness desires? (Is there something to fix this flawed design?) The conversation's not enough to fix this flawed design We call this progress We call this forward motion I call it wishful thinking (You call it like you see) Nothing wrong with wishful dreaming Dah dee dah dah dee I call it wishful thinking You call it like you see (We call this forward motion) Nothing wrong with wishful dreaming Dah dee dah dah dee You have a past You define the future You make this moment last You have a dream (We call this progress) You have a plan (We call this forward motion) You call for action (We call this wishful dreaming) Show us that we can (Dah dee dah dah dee) You take the first step (We call this progress) Your voice will have its say (We call this forward motion) You inspire others (We call this wishful dreaming) To build a brand new day (Dah dee dah dah dee) Your voice becomes a million (We call this progress) Your voice can't be denied (We call this forward motion) Don't call this wishful thinking (We call this wishful dreaming) The dream will be realized (Dah dee dah dah dee)

Note to Self 05:06
Nobody said there'd be a grand reaction No metamorphosis per se Taking it all in steps and strides and mountains Counting stars to find your way Better write a note to self Remember this conversation Stay the course you've set Remember this conversation Tell me you know you are the same as me now But something's different, something's changed The things they taught you and the way things turned out Counting stars and counting days The map they sold you had the wrong directions And you wonder why you ended up so lost Until one day you found that blade and forged your own path Fate would tip the scale, our paths would cross Better write a note to self Remember this conversation Stay the course you've set Remember this conversation This old imaginary conversation It never once steered you wrong My future self is waiting for your revelation So set your course across the stars

about

Order limited edition PURPLE NEBULA vinyl NOW!

Late 2020, after months of being creatively stifled, I sensed that the world was turning the corner towards a brighter day. I found my inspiration, and today I am thrilled to announce the result. My “pandemic project” became Shadow of a Shadow, a solo studio album that I wrote, recorded, and produced at home on my own. It follows my journey from frustration and pessimism to inspiration, optimism, and unlocked creativity.
